In Russia, the work of scientists was always respected: the names of our chemists, physicists and geologists are known all over the world. And to promote the development of new talents, the next decade was named the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia.
Our company couldn't stay away. We understand the importance of science for technological leadership. That’s why SIAM always its specialists to participate in scientific conferences. So, in October, our specialists participated online in the Russian Oil and Gas Technical Congress — the largest industry platform for exchanging experience.

It is worth celebrating the individual participation of SIAM specialists in other scientific and technical events at the end of this year.
In November of this year Alexander Uskov, head of the Monitoring and Planning Department of GTM, spoke at the forum «Optimization of the management system for maintaining production levels, managing the processes of developing residual reserves» in Nizhnevartovsk. The subject of Dmitry’s presentation was about the methods of efficiency evaluation of chemical enhancing of oil recovery. Overall the event was focused on issues that are relevant to the company, such as neural network modeling in flood management, and operational management of flooding in mature fields.
Dmitry Maikov, a lead specialist of Siam Master, spoke at several events this year. The first conference was the XII All-Russian Scientific Conference «Fundamental and Applied Problems of Modern Mechanic». It was held in September at Tomsk State University. Dmitry presented the topic «Acceleration of pressure calculation in the interpretation of hydrodynamic studies of wells».
Dmitry Maikov also participated in another conference — «Innovative Solutions in Geology and TIPS Development», — which was held in November in Moscow. The event was organized by the publishing house «Neftyanoeое khozyaistvo» («Oil economy»). Dmitry presented the topic «Application of the pressure calculation acceleration algorithm in the interpretation of hydrodynamic studies of wells». Previously, Dmitry and his co-authors published an article on this topic in the «Neftyanoeое khozyaistvo».
The paper describes a method for reducing the complexity of calculations and speeding up the time for calculating pressure with changing flow rates that are known from the history of well operation. The proposed method is based on the use of an approximation function of the differential pressure. According to the results obtained by Dmitry, the estimated time using the proposed method was reduced by almost 136 times, and the number of calls to the calculated function of the piezoelectric analytical model decreased by 763 times: from 64901 to 85.
Also this year, our IT-specialists released the updated Siam WellTest software with a modular design, which was described in «Neftyanoe Khozyaistvo». Sergey Isupov, head of the Automation Department, spoke not only about the advantages of Siam WellTest, but also about the prospects and history of the development of Siam's digital business.

Participation in conferences and official meetings are an opportunity for representatives of industrial enterprises to get to know the latest achievements in science and technology, discuss problems and prospects for the development of the industry, as well as establish contacts with colleagues and potential partners. As Dmitry said, «conferences are a good platform to share an experience. They are always well organized, with a balanced and very relevant agenda and professional speakers».
Dmitry is currently preparing a paper about modeling a well with an auto hydraulic-fracture for the III International Scientific and Technical Conference «Actual Problems of Science and Technology» in Sarapul (Udmurtia). We wish him a great success!
